SKEGNESS shoppers will be able to park their car for free during late night shopping evenings.
East Lindsey District Council and the Hildreds Centre Management Team have confirmed that free parking will be available behind the Hildred's Centre in the Lawn Car Park each Thursday from November 29, to December 20, after 6pm.
Portfolio holder for the environment at the district council councillor Tony Bridges said: "The district council recognises the challenge that businesses face and whilst car parking income remains vitally important to the council in funding local services, I am pleased we have been able to agree free parking during the late night shopping in Skegness in the run up to Christmas.
"As part of the Council's review of car parking arrangements, one of my recommendations to the executive board is that we standardise our charging period to 8am to 6pm across all our car parks as some currently charge until 10pm."
ELDC manages the Lawn Car Park on a revenue split with the Hildreds Centre.
Hildreds centre manager Peter Roffe, said: "The provision of free parking by the centre and the local council for the festive period is brilliant news for shoppers and retailers."
