A MABLETHORPE landlord has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 for putting his tenants at risk of harm.
Dennis Harris, who owns 15 George Street, had been served a Prohibition Order by East Lindsey District Council in August 2011, preventing him from letting any rooms at the address until a range of issues had been resolved.
Issues identified at the property included no fire detection system, no adequate heating system and no gas certificates to show that the gas appliances in the property were being properly maintained.
Also, some tenants had no access to cooking facilities.
Harris did not appear at court, the case was heard by magistrates in his absence resulting in a fine of £700 plus costs of £1380.97 for breaching the Prohibition Order.
Portfolio holder for housing, Councillor William Gray, said: "Putting tenants at risk of harm is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
"We always try to work with landlords to resolve problems and court actions are always a last resort.
"We will continue to clamp down on those Landlords in East Lindsey who fail to maintain their property to an acceptable standard for their tenants."
