POLICE officers called out to a suspected house burglary stumbled across an illicit cannabis farm, Lincoln Crown Court was told.

A report of a burglary in progress caused officers to visit the home of Michael Bridger in Middlemarsh Road, Burgh le Marsh, but when they arrived there was no sign of any intruders.

Christopher Lowe, prosecuting, said: "It was visited by police officers following the report of an apparent burglary in progress.

"There was no burglary but after entering the property the officers conducted a search of the building.

"Ninety-two cannabis plants were found in a downstairs room.

"The defendant was on holiday at the time but handed himself in at his local police station on his return.

"The potential value of the crop was £7,800 or so.

"It is clear there was a commercial element to this operation. That being said, the set-up was rather amateurish and the projected yield is very much at the lower end of what could be expected from a crop of that size."

Bridger, 29, formerly of Burgh le Marsh but now living in Fishponds Lane, Holbrook, Ipswich, admitted an offence of producing cannabis in August last year.

He was given a 51-week jail sentence suspended for two years with 300 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £300 towards prosecution costs.

David Eager, defending, said Bridger, a married man with three children, had used cannabis for many years.

Mr Eager said: "This prosecution has been the kick up the backside he needed to sort himself out.

"Since this he has moved to Ipswich away from the peer group he was associating with in Skegness.

"He has moved on with his life and is seeking to better himself."

Judge Michael Heath told Bridger: "You have escaped immediate custody by the skin of your teeth."

"I cannot believe that this drug dealer has not gone to jail, we all know that cannabis pickles the brain causes Psychosis & many other Mental Disorder." If there's one thing I've gleaned from this "debate", it's that we don't ALL know anything of the sort and you most certainly don't speak for everyone else (on any topic).

"TB Whiney - the reason we arrive out of the blue is that we search the net for press stories like this and correct any misinformation." But there isn't any misinformation in this story to correct, unless you're claiming the public record is wrong. But that didn't stop you and your fellow shills jumping in with your size tens, did it? For the record, I think all drugs should be legalised for tax purposes. That some people may end up dead or as drooling vegetables is merely collateral damage.

You are none the wiser by doing so - you simply prefer one type of propaganda against the other. I also do admit that I search for particular texts and leave comments in order to share what I have learnt about drugs, their use and effects. But I do my best to look for different points of view and not to manipulate the information I share. And, to the best of my knowledge, legalisation is the most sensible option. Why do you assume that the people who feel strongly enough about this issue to come here and talk about it are all cheap liars?

Mr_Sneer ''your merry band have done more to put the cause back than you have to promote it'' All we try and do is educate and share our opinions, as we know prohibition isn't working. After all the abuse we receive for it, dont be surprised if we sound defensive. The narrow minded 'trolls' are always ready to attack, with rudeness and ignorance. I accept any challenge, and difference in opinion as long as its rational. If not, we try and educate people with truth, yet always get tarred with the druggie brush for our views. Even though many anti prohibitionists dont use drugs. Dont be surprised if we sound defensive, and challenge other peoples views. There is much for people to learn and understand. Speaking for myself, I dont mind how Unpopular my view points are. If you disagree with prohibition and understand its dangers, what do you do to educate?

"the trolls seem even dumber in lincolnshire." Yeah, go on, insult your audience. That'll win them around to your way of thinking. And before you start on me, I'm in favour of legalising cannabis. However, having scanned through these comments, it strikes me that in coming over as a bunch of patronising *******s you and your merry band have done more to put the cause back than you have to promote it. *golf clap*

You see, the thing is, I've already had this discussion with people who know what they're talking about and whose opinions, even if I don't agree with them, are worthy of respect. You horde of rank amateurs don't even come close. Now go spam some other site or bring someone here who's actually worth debating with.

Except it is from the BMJ, I used Bbc for ease but it is all in the first paragraph. I am afraid the fact it is in the main stream media does not by default make it any less relevant. Still one more link than you. Despite a deluge of "facts" http://tinyurl.com/4t9syol The rest of your post does not disprove that cannabis causes psychosis, although it is interesting to see the treatment uses. Like botulinum used to give face lifts. As for Bad Science, I have a signed copy. Get me
