A MUSIC festival held in a marquee could be organised for the people of Skegness.

Skegness Town Council are considering organising a public music event in the town, which could be held on Pier Field.

At last week's Skegness Town Council meeting, Jez Lee, founder and managing director of Fake Festivals, gave a presentation about the opportunities for the town.

Fake Festivals has put on music events in various locations around the UK.

Mr Lee said: "Fake Festivals are held inside a marquee, like a modern town or village fete. They are fully self-contained.

"We also invite local food trade stands so local food traders in Skegness could come along as well as children's entertainers."

He explained the festivals have their own security team and the council will be responsible for promoting it and selling tickets.

The acts, if the festival go ahead, will be three tribute bands which could be supported by five local Skegness bands or musicians.

Mr Lee said: "It will be an opportunity for them to showcase their talent to local people and show what they can do."

The council made no decision on whether to go ahead with the Fake Festival but Councillor Phil Kemp said it would be a great thing for local residents.

He said: "This would be an excellent opportunity for this town council to show it is in touch with the residents of Skegness as this is something they would like to see, held in a place where they want to see more in use.

"It will be an event to benefit local people other than solely for those who visit. It will give something back and that is something I want to see.

Councillor Sue Binch added: "Young people really do want this in Skegness. It is a great idea."
