VISITORS to the Hildred's Shopping Centre next week will be transported into the world of Roald Dahl and his famous characters.
Shoppers will see the famous story of James and the Giant Peach narrated by an old wizard alongside a model of the giant peach, plus all of the insects featured in the book including the centipede, grasshopper, spider and glow-worm.
A national week has been created to celebrate the life and works of Roald Dahl who is one of the UK's most treasured authors.
Youngsters will be able to press a special button and smell the sweet scent of the peach and for braver children there will be a box that they can put their hands in to feel some of the sticky, slimy insects for themselves.
Deputy centre manager Steve Andrews, who has recently won a national award for the displays that he creates for the centre, said: "I'm really looking forward to seeing the reactions from youngsters to the display, especially the mystery box.
"The display has been created to celebrate Roald Dahl Week and also to raise funds for the important Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity which helps to make the lives of seriously ill children better and I hope we will be able to make a donation to the charity once the display has finished."
The Hildreds will be celebrating Roald Dahl Week from Saturday until September 16.
